Example of otoplasty, ear shaping, to address an overly prominent ear position. This patient also had a poorly formed antihelix (the normally natural ridge that traverses the upper half of the external ear). Note how flat her ear looks along the upper half prior to surgery. Following otoplasty, notice much more acceptable positioning of the ears with a newly created, natural appearing antihelix (seen best on close-up oblique view).
