Lipodissolve treatment, a form of mesotherapy, is a non-surgical, office-based procedure that can be used to get rid of unwanted fatty deposits around the face, neck and body. Lipodissolve is based on the use of phosphatidylcholine, which has fat dissolving properties. Once injected into an area, lipodissolve begins to directly dissolve unwanted fatty deposits. Your body then simply removes the dissolved fat by reabsorption, much the same way that it removes a bruise.

The best candidates for lipodissolve have well-defined pockets of unwanted excess fat. Some of the most frequently treated areas include the submental neck (under the chin), the lower face and the lower eyelids. Patients with more elastic skin are generally better candidates as their skin will tend to recoil and shrink more rapidly after the underlying fat dissolves.

In order to achieve optimal results, patients typically require a series of lipodissolve injections over a period of several months. Each treatment takes only a few minutes in the office with only mild discomfort (similar to having BOTOX® Cosmetic injections). A topical anesthetic with or without a nerve block can be used to maximize comfort during the procedure.

The recovery after lipodissolve treatment is minimal and patients are able to resume work and other normal activities within twenty-four hours. A very small percentage of patients may develop bruising or swelling at the treatment site that lasts beyond twenty-four hours. Over the following few days the body begins the process of reabsorbing the dissolved fat cells. Typically within a few weeks patients then begin to enjoy increased definition where there once was unwanted fat. If you are looking for an alternative to liposuction for undesirable fatty deposits, lipodissolve just may be the answer for you.
