BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is a very popular, simple office-based procedure used to help smooth unwanted facial wrinkles. It is used most commonly on the sides of the eyes (crow's feet), in-between the eyebrows for vertical skin creases, and within the forehead for horizontal skin creases. Good candidates for treatment include men and women who have unwanted wrinkles which appear with animation and emotional expression. Termed hyperdynamic lines, these wrinkles are the result of underlying muscle contraction in areas of dynamic movement. Dr. Hilinski performs a series of tiny injections strategically placed into select muscles to relax their movement. Because muscles are the source of skin creases and wrinkles, relaxing their movement results in a smoother skin surface. A topical anesthetic applied to the skin thirty to forty-five minutes before treatment may be used, along with a cold compress used just prior to treatment. The injection itself takes just five to ten minutes to complete. There is minimal downtime, though some temporary redness and swelling may be present for a few minutes after treatment. Ice compresses will be applied for several minutes after the injection. Most patients return to normal activity within a few hours. Improvements can be seen as early as 48 hours after the procedure. Results typically last 3-4 months. Click here to view our San Diego BOTOX® Cosmetic Gallery Q - How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work? Q - Are there any limitations to what BOTOX® Cosmetic can achieve?
