  Dr. Hilinski, Nicole, and team are absolutely amazing! Dr. Hilinski is very knowledgeable, takes the time to thoroughly explain procedures, and has gone above and beyond with patient care during my procedure and throughout all of my follow-ups. This was my first time having major surgery (septoplasty) and I felt comfortable and knew what to expect every step of the way. Everyone in the office is incredibly kind, personable, and helpful. If you are looking for a full-service care team, they are it!

  Dr. Hilinski is personable, empathetic, and takes the time to get to know you. Couple this with his supreme talent as a skilled surgeon on the highest level one can find. The breadth of his experience and demand for his expertise teaching other doctors is impressive. I felt extremely safe and confident going in and recovering from my procedure.   Come to San Diego to experience the best in Plastic Surgery.   Great eyelid experience for help with hypertrophic orbicularis oculi muscle Great experience!! Dr. Hilinski is a great, kind, and skilled plastic surgeon. I looked everywhere for a surgeon that could help with my hypertrophic orbicularis oculi muscle, which causes creases under my eyes. After several consults and multiple surgeons turning me away as they weren't skilled in fixing that issue, I found Dr. Hilinski. He did an amazing job; the clinic staff was super nice, welcoming, and friendly! Highly recommend! :)

  Dr. Hilinski is an amazing physician and meticulous in his work. I was not comfortable with the excess fat under my chin and neck area. Dr. Hilinski suggested procedures in a stepwise fashion starting with the least invasive process. I could not be more excited about how I look and feel as a result of his expertise, use of the latest technology, and attention to details.   Couldn’t be happier with my rhinoplasty. I had consultations with a handful of the most famous plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills and after my initial consult with Dr. Hilinski, I could tell that he was the only doctor who’s mission was to make you look natural and still like yourself. I didn’t have a single bruise and just some minor swelling. This was the first surgery that I’ve ever had and Dr. Hilinski couldn’t be more kind and make me feel at ease throughout the entire process. Everyone from their nurse, to anesthesiologist to their surgical coordinator were amazing and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Also, his prices are extremely reasonable!! I’m so in love with my new nose, Dr. Hilinski is truly the best!!!!

  The surgery has certainly provided me with more confidence Had ear surgery (macrotia) back in March by John. Such a great, seamless, surreal experience. I travelled from the UK which turned out to be easier than expected. John and his staff were all super accommodating. Felt safe in their care and confident I'd have my expectations met.   Dr Hilinski did my revision surgery and I am in disbelief with the results. Other surgeons had refused to operate & Dr. Toriumi had suggested a 20% improvement. Dr Hilinski somehow gave me 100%.   Age 37 & much more confidence after ear reduction surgery I had no idea there was a surgeon out there that does ear reduction surgery, but I found John after searching online for otoplasty and found that he also does ear reduction. I decided that I was going to go for it, because after 37 years of living with large ears and the constant hazing and mocking growing up as well as even into adulthood, I wasn't going to hesitate regardless of the cost. I have always covered my ears with long hair the best I could, but it wasn't something I wanted to do the rest of my life. I can say that this was a really good experience for me, and the cost was very reasonable. John is one of the few (or maybe only ones?) that does ear reduction, so he is very experienced with this surgery, and I could tell on the day of surgery that he is very precise and meticulate.. he makes sure it is done right the first time and looks completely natural. He made me feel comfortable and gave me plenty of reassurance that he knows what he is doing and after seeing the results I would say he is definitely one of the best. I would highly recommend. Thank you John you gave me so much more confidence.

  Love my revision septorhinoplasty - results are so natural! I am so pleased with my results. I had revision septo-rhinoplasty. My first surgery (by another surgeon left my nose scooped, irregular, and somewhat "done" looking which resulted in another 10+ years of not liking my nose. Dr. Hilinskys detailed website and impressive number of before and after's led me to book a consult. Additionally, I sought out previous patients who shared very positive results. I must say; I almost chose another doctor because he seemed more personable during consult. However; the photos, website, testimonials and just my gut knew Dr. h was the one so thank goodness I listened to that. Anyways, results!!!! I was so nervous to fix my "done nose" for it to just look even more done. However; my results are SO natural!!! My nose is beyond my expectations and feels like ME. My breathing is improved, he fixed my inverted V deformity which made my nose have weird shadows and scooped look, he reduced the projection of my tip and columma hang, he straightened my nose, and created my symmetry. Despite ALL of these changes, you can hardly tell my nose looks different, it just looks so dang good and normal :) I used to hate most angles of my face and didn't realize how much my nose impacted those angles bc now I love most angles of my face. I'm so happy. He's truly a magician and very humble. Happy to send photos or talk through anything with anyone. I'd certainly like to pay it forward as a few people helped me with my decision by sharing their experience with me. Oh! Also, no scar!! All stitches are inside my nose! I'm 3 weeks post op.

  Dr Hillinski did an amazing job on my revision nose surgery. I believe it must have been a challenging case technically and it turned out so natural appearing. I had showed him pictures from my childhood from a time when my nose fit my face and was symmetric and he was able to recreate that look. On top of his technical expertise, Dr Hillinski is a kind man and was always respectful. His staff was helpful and friendly.   This was my very first experience with any type of injectable. While I was a bit nervous, Kellie took all of the time I needed to answer questions and ease my nerves. She was extremely gentle and very knowledgeable. I felt completely comfortable and didn't feel the least bit pressured to have a procedure I wasn't ready for. She gave me a price quote, again no pressure or feeling awkward. I really felt like she cared about me as a person and not a number.   Dr. Hilinski fixed my nose (previous primary rhinoplasty with a different surgeon, and then re-broke my nose years later) in a way that I wasn't sure was possible. My nose was crooked and deviated, and my breathing was poor out of one side of my nose. Further, my nose didn't fit my face, and wasn't natural. My revision with Dr. Hilinski couldn't have gone better. Nearly 10 years after my initial rhinoplasty with a different surgeon, Dr. Hilinski fixed my nose, both aesthetically and functionally. DO NOT go to a jack of all trades to get your nose fixed. I urge you, go to a specialist/true expert like Dr. Hilinski. I owe him and his entire staff/team a tremendous amount of gratitude. I'm so glad I did my research, and that I decided on Dr. Hilinski. He is a true expert and professional.

  I have been researching and wanting to get my ears reduced for a while, so when I finally got the opportunity, I jumped on it. I was a bit nervous about it, but I immediately felt at ease with Dr. Hilinski and his friendly, professional staff. Except for some minor pain from the initial anesthetic injections, the procedure was painless and was over before I knew it. As expected, I had some pain afterwards once the anesthetic wore off, but that was easily taken care of with some medication. It's been less than 48 hours since the procedure, but despite the swelling and redness, my ears already look so much better. I am glad I chose Dr. Hilinski and am excited to see my ears only look better and better as they heal.

  I do not know where to start this from... I always knew that I had an abnormal looking ears because i was always made fun of or bullied due to shape of my ears and size. I am 30 years old... I iced all my life hiding my ears with my long hair. I went to the gym and i had to hide my ears. I went to swimming I had to hide my ears... In every occasion I had to hide them...Until I have found Dr Hilinski! I still did not think I would get the ears I wanted or the ears that are normal in our society. I made a Zoom phone consultation with him and he explained me everything and made me feel assured that I would be happy with the results. The surgery time came and today I had my headband removed for the first time. I am could not believe in my eyes! My large, abnormal looking ears looked like I was born with perfect ears. I am so emotional writing his because I lived 30 years with hiding my ears. But no more! My designer ears are so perfect and so natural looking. After two days, they already look healed!   I got much of what I wanted my nose to look like physically, but not entirely. I will likely have another surgery in the future to change the shape more so to the image I would like it to become.   I started doing research for ear surgery about 20 years ago. I had a consultation with a surgeon and she recommended otoplasty, but I knew that’s not what I wanted. When I asked about making my ears SMALLER, she said it wasn’t possible. I lost hope and shelved the idea until last year when I started researching again, and after 20 years, and I happened upon Dr. Hilinski's practice. I was amazed at what I saw. Not just otoplasty, but macrotia surgery to reduce the size of ears. I looked at his gallery and my mouth dropped. Where has Dr. Hilinski been my whole life? Fast forward to the day of surgery, you wouldn’t have even known I was having surgery. Dr. Hilinski, Andrew and I listened to country music, chatted and laughed the whole time and I just had such a wonderful, fun experience. I felt comfortable and knew I was in great hands. Everything was explained in depth, from the initial consultation, to the pre-op, during surgery and even after. No question or concern went unanswered. His entire staff, Nicole, Ariana, and Andrew are just wonderful. Today I had my post surgery appointment and after Dr. Hilinski removed the bandages, I cried tears of happiness. I couldn’t believe my eyes. My hair was up, and even though my ears were moderately swollen and bruised, I could see beyond that and that my ears were beautiful! I am so happy with the results, it’s an understatement. For the remainder of the day I couldn’t stop staring at my ears. I kept thinking, “So THIS is what it’s like to have normal sized ears…” My new, “designer ears” will go perfectly with my designer shoes, ha! I can’t wait to fully heal so I can experiment with all sorts of updos, something I’ve never been able to do, but have always dreamed of. Dr. Hilinski has changed my whole life and it’s only 3 days post-op. It was like waking up on Christmas morning, and what I imagine Cinderella felt like after the proverbial Bippity Boppity Boo… Only at the stroke of midnight my ears will still be fabulous.   I had a followup visit for my lipo this day. This is now my primary source of discomfort. I did take off the drip pad to clean again today and got a little dizzy, might have stood up too fast. During my lipo follow-up I asked if they would help me remove the gauze from my nostrils as this was due today. They did and said everything looked good. I now have to keep cleaning like before but also add in saline spray around 5x a day as needed to keep it wet and washed. My eyes are starting to get swollen today, no obvious bruising, the arnica may really be helping with that. I got cleared to shower my body but can't get face wet with the cast on so I'm still gonna hold off since my body is so sore.

  Not alot to update on. My stitches swelled up over the weekend and doc had me restart bacitracin. It helped. Now they are slowly starting to dissolve and fall out. Nose is sore to touch. Hurts like a bitch when you accidentally bump it. I'm still taping it nightly. The adhesive stuck on my face all the tome sucks alot. Also my poor pores. I still notice a bump on my bridge. Cant get upset about it since full results can take a year..but damn i hope it goes away :/ Tip is still swollen. I'll try to post maybe weekly updates moving forward...it's a slow process. I miss being able to wear my glasses already...and spicy food..

  The nose pain continues to improve. Drainage has slowed. Sometimes I have a dull headache, sometimes it stings when I clean the sutures. I'm still barely bruised and just a tiny bit swollen around my eyes, i continue to take the arnica for this. Still cleaning 2-3x a day and spraying. I showered below the shoulders today. I did get dizzy/lightheaded when cleaning my sutures again which is odd but something to look out for. I'm still eating mostly softs just because I'm scared to chew drastically. I'm making this weird snoring noise while sleeping and keep waking myself up doing it. I'm still sleeping with the humidifier since my mouth still gets very dry and sleeping on my lawnchair because I'm still nervous ill roll onto my face while sleeping.   My entire life I've always wanted to get my nose fixed. My family tends to carry a special trait of a big nose and I've always been horrified by my side profile. As I've gotten older in addition to the way it looks it's functionality has begun to dwindle significantly. The bridge was high and the skin was thin so every time I inhaled it just collapsed on itself. I would get short of breath when eating because Ijust can't seem to breath. This year I finally was ready to take the plunge! Initially I had hoped to be able to help my cost by going through my insurance to cover the breathing component. Unfortunately I have an HMO and they would not allow me to see the facial specialist I was recommended by many. I decided to meet the doc the assigned me anyways to feel him out. I knew within moments I was not a fan. He was abrupt, seemed annoyed at my questions and just gave me a bad vibe. For my breathing fixing he wanted to remove some of my turbinates, do a septoplasty and put in cartilage supports to support my bridge. This all seemed to make sense to me so they said they would type up a quote and that insurance would cover the breathing elements. When they gave me my quote my stomach dropped. Just for the cosmetic portion they wanted 11,000. I asked the nurse if this was typical. I had been quoted 5500 back when I lived in IL so was not expecting this - even for California prices. The nurse said the doc was the head surgeon and very good at what he does but it was definitely on the high end. At this time I decided to get a second opinion with the MDthat multiple people recommend and was a facial plastic specialist - which made more sense anyways. It took a few more months to get into him and then Covid happened. I was finally able to do a Zoom consult in May. I immediately like him better. He was patient, didn't rush me and seemed happy to answer all of my questions. I told him what the initial doc had planned and this doc disagreed and believed it was overkill. He believed that by just lowering my hump and fixing my septum I would have a great improvement in breathing. He said the adding of cartilage grafts can create more problems than it fixes and he wouldn't want to do unless absolutely necessary. He also explained complications of removal of turbinates, elaborating that these have a special and important role to play in breathing when they humidify your air and that he would simply push them back a bit to preserve their functionality.

  Today I got my cast off! I was so nervous I would hate it and it would hurt but I was so ready and it was itching. He took it off and was surprised how little I bruised (barely at all) but said he is very particular about how he breaks the nose to avoid nasty bruising. Maybe it was the arnica too?! I'm definitely swollen though, especially the tip. He taught me this method of taping my nose down along my bridge to help assist my skin in forming to the new bone stricture. Because my skin is very thick this is harder and will take longer so every night i will put on the strips with pressure to force the skin down- DEFINITELY uncomfortable. When I shower I let it get wet then gently peel off. If I'm just chillin at home for the day I am to just leave the tape on. I am to do this 4 weeks and follow up. No more peroxide- one more day of ointment on stitches. Continue salt spray indefinitely. No scrubbing the nose. Stitches will dissolve. Low salt diet to prevent swelling. I still am to lay on my back when sleeping till my 4 week follow up which will be so so hard

  Best practice I’ve ever been to. I love the doc and love the treatments. High quality, accommodating, friendly staff, easy parking, knowledgeable. I’ve been going here for years for various treatments. Most notably, I had two rhinoplasty operations before Dr. Hilinski and went to him for a third. He worked his magic and I gotta say it takes a true master to fix what I had going on. A little pricey, but the expertise is worth it.   I love this practice. I wish my results of my procedure were better. I have had to get several steroid injections due to a raised are on my right side of my nose, and some indentation on the left.   My experience with Dr. Hilinski has been nothing but positive. I picked him based on the results he has achieved with other patients and the reviews on all his social/review platforms. Because a rhinoplasty is such a permanent and noticeable procedure, I did hours/days/weeks of research over the course of 2 years to find the perfect doctor. I found Dr. Hilinski coincidentally through a negative Yelp review of an LA based plastic surgeon, where a patient had a failed rhinoplasty with the LA based surgeon and sought a revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Hilinksi in San Diego to fix her nose, and she raved about her experience. I met with several other facial plastic surgeons following my initial consult with Dr. Hilinski, just to make sure I was thorough in my research, but it was clear he was the best fit. I trusted his confidence at my consultation to give me the results I was looking for, and I could not be happier with my outcome!   I am so happy with my new nose, my only regret is not doing it 10 years earlier! Dr. Hilinski and staff are wonderful consummate professionals. If I have to nitpick, I do wish the slight residual cartilage indentation at the very tip of my nose were not visible- but I have extremely thin skin, and it's only in certain light. Similarly, I had two residual bony bumps rasped down 11 months post-op, and I would have been happier without them, but that is just the reality you face with rhinoplasty. The rasping procedure was far easier and more painless than I expected! I cannot wait to see the final results after the swelling comes down.

  Okay! Update. So just wanted to clarify I am updating as I go so others know it is a process. I had an ethnic rhinoplasty. I have thicker skin than average, especially near the tip. It is said that thicker skin heals slower than normal. I am being patient. I have provided a photo that shows a comparison of my front view from 8/15 (left) vs 8/19 (right). As you can see my front view does look asymmetrical, BUT my nose is still changing and will continue to do so over time. You can see what a difference 4 days made. My nose has much more definition than it did on Thursday. I will not know if it stays uneven until I am fully recovered. My side view looks great. I like it a lot, it looks very natural and is subtle as I asked. Any further updates I will add later on. Any questions let me know :D

  I went to Dr. Hilinski in May 2019 for an earlobe revision due to sagging earlobes from excessive piercings. I could not have been happier with my decision ! I did a ton of research on surgeons who specialize in earlobe revision or wedge reduction and came across his name several times.   I was self couscous about my ear size since I was a child (40 now). They were very large (top to bottom) and over 12cm larger than the average ear. I was teased my whole life about it and thought there was no solution until I found Dr. Hilinski. I recently had Macrotia surgery done to correct and resize/reshape the ears and while very nervous was anxious to put a life long issue behind me. I traveled to San Diego and the surgery was fairly painless. I only felt slight mild pain on the numbing injections (2/10 on the pain scale) and the surgery was done in less than a couple hours. I did not need to take more than one pain pill for the first night only to help me sleep. The dressings were removed 3 days later and swelling was minimal. I can say that the results were nothing short of amazing.. I cannot believe how nice the shape is of my ears and how much better they fit my facial features. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. Within 7 days I could be seen in public without anyone being able to detect anything. I am so glad that I was able to find a doc like Dr. Hilinski who literally took a weight off my shoulders that I had been suffering with since I was a kid. Scarring is also healing very well and looks like it would be hardly noticeable when fully healed. I am at 3 weeks post op. Dr. Hilinski is not only a great Doc but a person who seems really caring about his patients and their needs. I cannot thank him and his staff more for the great treatments and friendly atmosphere in the office. Again my only regret... that I didn't do it sooner. Thank you so much!

  This review is long overdue! Dr. Hilinski is honestly the best!! I chose him for many reasons! He is known for being the TOP Facial Plastic Surgeon for Rhinoplasty and Revisions but he’s also Double Board Certified and specializes in Head/Neck and ENT! He knows and does it all! Education and experience is a huge factor for me when choosing a surgeon in any aspect, especially when it comes to my face! It’s so important to pick a surgeon that specializes in the specific region you are looking to address/change/fix/enhance. I LOVED that he attended Harvard Medical School! After graduation, he completed a General Surgery internship followed by a Head and Neck Surgery RESIDENCY at UCSD Medical Center. Through residency, focused his efforts exclusively on surgery of the face and neck. This was all extremely impressive to me and important when making my decision! Can you say over-achiever?! I couldn’t be happier with my decision! I had Rhinoplasty about 18 years prior in my younger years. (I was 23 and had my Revision at 41) My breathing was becoming an issue; not only in my fitness life but it was affecting many aspects of my life. I literally couldn’t breathe well and became a night mouth-breather. Also, the shape of my nose and the tip was changing as well which also started bothering me. I started noticing changes in pictures and the mirror. I didn’t know why this was all happening and it turned out that I had a major collapsed nasal valve along with a lot of other problems! Who knew!? I can’t tell you how detailed and thorough Dr. Hilinski was from the very beginning! Since Day 1, He took his time to really see what was going on and explain things to me so well! He explained that I might need extra cartilage taken from one area (for me it was the back of my ear) to build and reshape my nose on the inside and explained what it all entailed! I think had I went to a different/regular Plastic Surgeon (not ENT/Head/Face/Neck, not HIM), they would have just performed a textbook rhinoplasty for the aesthetic portion of the problem and made my nose pretty, without addressing and fixing the more important internal and functional portion- the parts you can’t see! I’m SO lucky to have found him and couldn’t be happier with my results! It wasn’t a piece of cake surgery but his hands are MAGIC and he really took care of me! I’m not a doctor so I can’t go into all the medical terms, but in simple terms, my surgery evolved around nasal valve repair and Septoplasty following the prior attempted nose reconstruction. So I had an amazing revision and a much needed repair! My nose is not only perfect (in my opinion and from what everyone tells me) but it functions SO MUCH BETTER! I can run and do HIIT along with my other workouts without struggling to breathe, turning bright red or getting fatigued because of lack of oxygen from proper breathing! I’m a personal trainer so this is all extra important to me. And… bonus, it’s SO pretty! In addition to fixing all the internal components, he made it really attractive and well suited to my face:) His follow-up is amazing! Lots of photos are taken throughout the process and lots of follow-up appointments are made! He really sticks with you in the long run and truly cares about your progress- I love that about him! He office staff- ALL OF THEM- have been the same for years and they are all amazing, sweet, caring and professional. I have sent at least 10 people to him and they were ALL happy with their results and experience! He is super intelligent, patient, kind, caring, professional and has an incredible background.   Last January (1/2018) I had an otoplasty/ear pinning, AND macrotia procedure performed by Dr. Hilinski. I had always been very self conscious about the amount to which my ears stuck out and the overall size of them. Kind of thought of them as elf ears. Dr. Hilinksi was excellent in discussing with me how the procedure would go and what to expect. I was and am extremely happy with the results. To be honest most people in my life told me that my ears were fine and that I didn't need to have the surgery but after they saw the results EVERY SINGLE PERSON said "Oh wow! Yeah they look so much better!". I was so pleased with the entire experience, care, and results provided by Dr. Hilinski that I am also having him perform my Rhinoplasty revision in less than two weeks. He's also doing a small adjustment on my ears from the first operation. Not a big deal at all, just something that I personally wanted tweaked that he graciously agreed to do. To give you an idea of how great I think Dr. Hilinski is, the doctor who performed my rhinoplasty was willing to do the revision and it basically would have been free of charge, my cost would've only been the anaesthetics but I chose instead to go to Dr. Hilinski for my rhinoplasty revision and pay a full price. That is how much I trust Dr. Hilinski and how highly I think of him, his work, and his staff. There are so many doctors to choose from out there and I am incredibly thankful that I found him!   Dr. Hilinski and his staff have been nothing short of wonderful! I had a hump on my nose that has bothered me ever since I was in middle school. I always felt like my nose was out of proportion to the other features on my face. I researched rhinoplasty for a long time but was always nervous to actually go through with it. After a consultation with a couple of different surgeons who I didn't feel 100% comfortable going with, a friend recommended Dr. Hilinski to me with glowing acclaim. After my first consultation, I felt extremely comfortable with choosing Dr. Hilinski as my plastic surgeon. He was the only doctor who told me that he would do an open rhinoplasty instead of closed one and really took time with me, instead of rushing me out the door. He explained the procedure to me, step by step, and related to me why this procedure was best for my nose and for the outcome I was looking for. After hearing all of this I was worried that his price would be far more than what the other surgeons quoted me for a closed rhinoplasty. As it turned out, his price was exactly the same as what they quoted me! Before the procedure, and after, Dr. Hilinski was always super quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. Email is the best form of communication. It was the quickest and easiest way to send photos and ask questions. He was also always honest and realistic, which I greatly appreciated. It has been almost a year now since my operation and I absolutely love my nose! I feel as though Dr. H listened everything I had to say, used his expertise to envision the nose that best fit my face, all while making sure that I still completely look like me.   Dr Hilinski gave me my smile back. I had permanent filler put in 13 years ago that had shifted and my lips were not symmetrical and I felt they were ugly. I didn't like to smile and didn't want my picture taken. After Dr. Hilinski removed the filler I love my smile and let people take my picture again! What impressed me was his confident yet conservative approach. He's not in the business of giving you a new face...he is in the business of enhancing the one you already have.   Dr. John Hilinski is the best of the best! I broke my nose in high school and then broke it again in a bad car accident last year. I had to have surgery to reset it that didn’t fix the problem. The doctor said my nose was too hard for him to fix because it had been broken before and my septum was collapsed. I am so grateful a friend referred me to Dr Hilinski. He was able to rebuild my septum so I could breath better than ever. At the same time he made my nose look amazing without changing it too much. People tell me I look younger but they can’t tell exactly what is different. I have referred friends and family members to Dr. Hilinski. He truly is an incredible plastic surgeon!!!!

He did a fantastic revision on my nose and I could not be happier. Wish I had gone to him first!! He provides better education to patients on how to prevent scarring and future problems with healing.   Here's the thing, before you have a huge surgery like I did (nose), you're going to do your research. I read review after review and kept coming back to the same surgeon because of all of the positive reviews. John Hilinski is even better than all of the positive reviews you will read about him! I truly believe that. He is kind, and knowledgeable and most importantly available to you! I had my surgery just before Christmas and things couldn't have gone more wrong in the healing process. Turns out, I am allergic to medical tape so my face swelled up, I also got an infection and had to undergo a second emergency surgery, then I got the flu TWICE! I kid you not. But here's the amazing part of Dr Hilinski and his staff, even though he was vacationing with his family in Hawaii, he was 100% available to me, to answer my concerns, to give me incredible advice and eventually to bring me out of a terrible circumstance. Even though the beginning part of the process was difficult, I am forever grateful to him for my new nose, of which I can finally breathe out of again.   after my initial septotomy and request for symmetry did not go well, i searched for 2 years for information on how to repair my breathing and look of course. i came upon dr. hilinski's insightful tutorial for various nose issues, hope! dr. hilinski's calm, discerning assessment of my situation was so appreciated. my breathing corrected, appearance improved, confidence restored. i have since gone on to repair my earlobes after many years of heavy earrings and my upper lip correcting a droopy side from an auto accident damaging my face years ago. dr. hilinski's in depth knowledge and intricate ability for corrections and improvements are an accessible treasure.   This Dr basically has all the qualities you might search for in a surgeon! Kind, skilled, artistic, humble and cautious! Dr Hilinski is an amazing surgeon and a very kind person. He made me feel safe, listened and he was very humble. He adapts his speech to his patients, he doesn't hide behind technical medical terms out of your reach, he actually explains what he'll do very simply and is open to questions you might have. It makes people feel cared for and reassured. Dr Hilinski is very gentle, I was amazed to see how little bruising I had. I was swollen and that's about it, it went down pretty quickly too. This makes me think that he really is gentle during the procedure. Dr Hilinski was also honest about what was doable or not and adopted a safe approach to my procedure. No matter how bad you wish for something to happen, the best that can happen to you is having a surgeon who knows what he does and knows where the limit is between what's doable and what's not because you obviously alone cannot know this limit.

  I had my rhinoplasty almost two years ago and it's been an incredible experience. I was very nervous and did TONS of research before finally deciding to get it done at 32 years old. I knew Dr. H and his office were the best because of the amount of time he took in my consult to go over every detail and question with my mom and I. He went over the entire procedure and all the corrections in detail, making sure not to talk over our heads or underestimate our research. He also shows the images and corrections he will make himself, which a lot of doctors don't do, they usually give it to a nurse to go through the corrections even though she/he will not be doing the surgery! I felt extremely safe from day one and scheduled the surgery that day. His staff made me feel very comfortable the day of the surgery and although it was a long/complex bulbous nose surgery, everything went smoothly. Two years later, I am SO happy that I decided to finally get it done and picked the best surgeon to do it! Dr. H still sees me every few months to make sure I am getting the absolute best results. I didn't realize but there are injections that he can do to make sure it's healing and looking its absolute best and all of this has been at no charge. I was very open about my surgery to friends and family and I get compliments all the time, including from my friend who got one from another doctor and is jealous of my results!   I got my nose messed up pretty good by Dr Ghavami. Aesthetically it was a disaster not to mention it wasn’t working too well either. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Dr. Hilinski. He has a warm and compassionate demeanor which is rare among such accomplished surgeons such as himself. He genuinely cares and was always very diligent about making sure I knew what was going on.   I had wanted a rhinoplasty for years when I started looking into it. My nose was cute, but had a bump on the bridge, a slightly flat spot where I had broken it, and a slightly bulbous tip. I was very nervous. I saw several doctors who clearly wanted to move on to the next patient, or had portfolios of overcorrected noses that looked "done," etc etc etc... Then I met Dr. Hilinski! He takes his time, has a keen eye for balance and natural-looking results, and has every professional certification I was looking for in my doctor. I chose Dr. Hilinski and booked a surgery date (August 18, 2016) Everybody in my life was telling me not to go ahead with it. It has been a year and a few months since my surgery and I'm so incredibly happy I went through with it. I do not think it could have turned out better. He ended up doing a double osteotomy, graft, and whatever else can be done to a nose. Recovery was tough, but worth it. Even though I had paid in full and Dr. Hilinski was not making another cent off of me, he continued to work with me on the slight callus that had formed on my bridge. We did very gentle steroid shots for a while and then a rasping. I'm so impressed that he stuck with me until the results were absolutely perfect, even though I was not paying additional fees. He answers emails very quickly and takes his time with every visit. He created a natural, beautiful look with my nose. He never rushes through our interactions or procedures. It's clear he is dedicated to his work and wants to see the best results as a matter of personal pride and accomplishment-- not just to make money. Nobody has noticed that I got my nose done, but people have definitely noticed that I look way better. Highly highly recommend!

  I always told myself that I would try to age gracefully. Approaching my sixth decade, I could see the "life" I had lived in the wrinkles and the sags on my face. At that point, I decided that I would rather "tell" people of my life's triumphs and tribulations rather than have them read about them on my face. So, I took my face to see Dr. John Hilinski, and now I can honestly say that I AM growing old gracefully! I have had a TON of work done and I am quite happy about the way everything has turned out. I still look "age appropriate" ( none of that over-done look for me, thank you!). If I didn't tell everyone my "secret", I am sure people would think I have the best genes on the planet. (OK, Jennifer Anniston has the best genes on the planet, but I can exaggerate a little, right?) Before you and I met, I was impressed with your online reviews, the array of pictorial evidence of surgical excellence on your website, and of course your Harvard credentials. When we met, I was also impressed by you professionally. You were obviously smart and you asked lots of good questions about what I wanted to see in my rhinoplasty. I liked your direct approach to what could or could not be accomplished, and I trusted your surgical vision immediately. Your staff including Nicole was also responsive and informed (on my day of surgery your assistant Andrew even stayed overnight in my hotel room to care for me, as I traveled alone, and he was so patient and kind), but more important you were too, both before and long after the surgery. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to respond by e-mail to me directly and do so promptly. In addition, when we consulted by Skype and in person I must have asked you 35 questions, and you patiently answered every one. If that's not amazing customer service, I don't know what is.   The staff was super accommodating and Dr. Hilinski has been very nice. I chose him because his work is natural and no one looked pulled or unusual. I am 6 days post op and have had little bruising, and only minor discomfort. It's important to rest because this is major surgery! I paid a deposit of $1,400 when I booked my procedure. I was able to make payments up until the balance was due which was at my pre-op appointment. This was nice so I didn't get hit all at once.

  This review is long overdue. I had Botox injections to my forehead, frown lines and crows feet this past Oct. 2016 by Dr. John Hilinski. What a great experience after dealing with several different doctors and having bad results such as headaches, tingling, and droopy upper eyelids! In addition, his costs are very reasonable as well. I hope to continue seeing him for additional Botox and other cosmetic procedures. I also feel it pays to see a faces only plastic surgeon when having these procedures. His kindness and honesty was very refreshing!

  From beginning to end, my experience with Dr. Hilinski's office was wonderful. I researched many doctors and decided to make the 90 mile commute to San Diego from the Inland Empire because Dr. Hilinski's work was the most impressive to me. I contacted the office interested in an earlobe repair - I had two stretched holes in each ear, the first at 7/8" and the second at a 0 gauge. I knew I didn't have much tissue to work with in repairing my earlobes but I wanted to see them repaired. The receptionist team gave me a somewhat detailed walk-through of what the whole process would be like, from consultation to surgery to aftercare. The staff was very friendly and did their best to answer any questions I had. I'm extremely pleased with the results of my earlobe repair. Dr. Hilinski was personable, friendly and very professional - he did amazing work. I recommend anyone who is looking for face/neck repair/work to review his portfolio and schedule a consultation with him.

  I couldn't have asked for a better experience with my eyelid surgery. I am very squeamish about having surgery under a local anesthetic, but this was clearly the better option. I had lots of support, and all went well. Before the surgery, I was well- prepared by the staff. Perhaps that would be my only complaint about the staff though. They called, texted, emailed, to remind me of my appointments (As if I was going to back out?? I found this to be a bit disruptive). During the surgery, I was well cared for. My only concern was that no one called after the surgery to see how I was doing. Luckily, I had a friend who had been through this procedure who stayed with me, so I wasn't that concerned. 6 weeks post surgery, I can see that the Dr. did an excellent job. I can hardly see the scars myself, and my eyes look much more open.

  I had an otoplasty procedure (ear surgery) done about two months ago and I am extremely satisfied with the results. Dr. Hilinski and his staff were always very polite and professional. They made sure to explain everything quite thoroughly to ensure I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I had googled the average cost of this surgery and the price I ended up paying fell within the range I had seen online.   I spent an entire year getting Rhinoplasty consultations with six different Cosmetic Surgeons. Then I was referred to Dr. Hilinski by my Otolaryngologist. At first, I took my time asking a lot of questions, before making my final decision. Dr. Hilinski answered all my questions in a prompt and thorough matter. He was very patient with my slow, methodical approach of making my choice. Once I scheduled my procedure, I had a seamless experience with all the preparations for surgery. The entire Staff works very cohesively guiding you through the process, start to finish. I was given all the information I needed by Dr. Hilinski, and his medical assistant so I knew what to expect before, during, and post-operation. His Anesthesiologist and Nurse were also very diligent preparing me for my Rhinoplasty. I even had a phone interview with the Anesthesiologist to go over my medical history and the results from the lab work they had ordered. The morning of my procedure his Nurse and Anesthesiologist spoke in depth with me again, and completely put me at ease, so I felt relaxed, and safe going into surgery. After the procedure I went home and knew exactly what I needed to do to facilitate my healing process. I was also given paperwork with specific directions on how to do so. Dr. Hilinski was also very thorough with all my post-op appointments. I also called the office with any questions I had, which were answered right away. I returned to work after a couple weeks, with little discomfort. Once the swelling subsided, I could already see some improvement in my appearance. Now, fourteen months later, I am so happy with the results! I can breathe so much easier, and my nose looks great from every angle. Even though it was a subtle change, (which is what I wanted), I have been given so many compliments. I took many before and after pictures, and can see a remarkable change in my nose-especially in the profile. I highly recommend Dr. Hilinski for Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty surgery. When I was considering my revision surgery, it was between Dr. Hilinski and one other surgeon, who had done an excellent job on my mom's nose. (However, the circumstances of our anatomy and desired end result were quite different....I inherited by Dad's larger Italian nose.) If I could do it all over again, I would ABSOLUTELY have selected Dr. Hilinski for my first procedure. He is highly skilled in steroid injections and was the only doctor that was willing to take on my case and work with me over a course of a couple years to "fine tune" my nose and reduce the excessive swelling that I experienced after my two rhinoplasties. I believe that it is quite easy to find a surgeon that is willing to perform a rhinoplasty procedure. However, I also believe it is imperative to select a surgeon that will work with you long-term…the months, perhaps years later… to evaluate the swelling that can result. Having a doctor that will work with you during this difficult time and share your goal of ultimately achieving the best outcome is unique.   Dr. Hilinski is a wonderful doctor. He did revision rhinoplasty to fix a nose that was left with problems from my first rhinoplasty. This first surgeon left my nose too short and upturned and with the bridge a bit uneven and short. Dr. Hilinski was able to make it longer and less upturned and more straight and smooth. He also removed a little mole on my nose that I had since a little girl. He had me visit several times after the surgery to make sure the nose procedure went well and I was recuperating nicely. All of this extra care for no extra cost. I highly recommend him.

  Decent bedside manner, pre-op visits were brief, and office was very nice. I wish he would budget a few more mins during consults for questions...or that staff would remind you to make a list of things to ask on the reminder call as it is easy to forget when put on the spot. Due to the fact that this doc did the initial procedure, then a revision, then took measures to correct the revision (stretching with q-tip & silicone injections) then hinted at a 2nd revision (3rd surgery), I'm not confident to recommend him for guaranteed good results the first time, but I'm sure it is possible. Maybe my surgery was complicated?? Overall, I like what it looks like now vs. before, so I can't complain. And for the price I paid, I'm quite content.

  I have been a patient of Dr. Hillinski's for just under 10 years starting in 2007. I initially began seeing him for Botox and then in 2011 had a conservative nose job, a replacement of a chin implant, an upper eye lift and lipo of the double chin area. I recently began having Dr. H. inject filler into the under eye area . My experience has been very positive with John. Firstly, he is extremely personable trustworthy and approachable. I never felt he was in it for the money. He always put what might be best for me ahead of suggesting procedures to make more money. There were some instances where I inquired about a possible procedure that he told me emphatically I did not need. But even in those instances I always felt the choice was ultimately up to me. Dr. H. is also not the sort of plastic surgeon that will suggest getting procedures done. What I mean by that is, based on my nearly 10 years of experience, it will always be up to YOU to inquire about getting something new done. He will never say, for example, "Ever consider getting your nose done?" That is not his style. You will never feel like you are with a salesman trying to up-sell you. As for his work: his signature approach and style is conservative and natural. All of my work is almost impossible to detect. I tell people all the time what I have had stuff done and everyone is always stunned because they cannot tell I have had any work done. I am 52 and people always assume I am in my mid 30s. I get a kick out of telling people my age. Jaws always drop agape. I get a thrill out of blowing people's minds! And I do! In some instances he has gone more conservative than I had originally wanted -- only to later be glad that he did. Of course no one is perfect. There have been instances when I have not been perfectly satisfied with something --- and Dr. H. happily made necessary refinements until I achieved what I had originally wanted. I never felt uneasy saying: "This is not quite what I want so can we work on this a little more?" I knew he would be very cool about it. In fact, my experience with Dr. H was that I was really in a partnership with him. I was an active co-participant in designing and making aesthetic improvements to my look. At this point I live in NYC. but I still come to S.D. to see Dr. H. There are many plastic surgeons in NYC. but I trust Dr. H. and I like him. I know he will never give me stuff I do not need or will not look good on me to make a buck. I also like knowing Dr. H is a Harvard Medical School graduate with a residency and internship in facial plastic surgery from a top medical institution. I know I am in good hands with Dr. Hillinski. I can recommend him without reservation and do so enthusiastically!

  Dr. Hilinski and he has been absolutely amazing. He has spent a considerable amount of time with me post surgery with regular follow up visits to make sure the results were as good as it could possibly be. I am grateful to have found a doctor with his level of skill, care and commitment. This was the only Doctor I went to that actually does his own digital imaging to give you a realistic expectation of what you will look like post surgery. Every other place I went to had an assistant do this with no knowledge of what was actually visually and functionally appropriate. He is also one of the only docs who will post front facing profile photos instead of just side profile before and after photos. He understands symmetry and the art and science of having a nose that fits your face and doesn't look fake. Dr. Hilinski is truly in a class of his own and he specializes in nose surgery. I highly recommend him and can't say enough good things about him. He is very response to email and answered all my questions prior to the surgery and didn't over promise with unrealistic expectations.

  I love my nose so much I can't even describe my gratitude. 1. REVISION - I came to Dr. Hilinski after 3 botched nose jobs, leaving my nose thin, crooked, along with other issues. It was so ugly and difficult to work with that at that point, I wasn't shooting for a pretty nose, I just wanted to look remotely normal/natural which I didn't even think was possible. A year later, my nose looks like the best possible version of my original nose and fits my face perfectly. 2. PRICE - A steal of a price, despite it being a difficult case. Having paid for three previous surgeries, and after getting a $25K quote from another LA doctor, I couldn't believe how affordable Dr. Hilinski's services were especially considering all the follow up care over the last 1+ year has been included. It was 60% less and I got a Harvard trained specialist. The consultation was also free. 3. TECHNIQUE - Being that my skin was thinned out from multiple surgeries and all the cartilage from both my ears and septum has already been harvested, other surgeons told me that to repair my nose we would have to harvest cartilage from my rib and tissue from my scalp. That would've not only been extremely painful, but would've left me with more scars. Imagine how relieved I was when Dr. Hilinski told me he was going to use cadaver cartilage. It's expensive for doctors to purchase cadaver cartilage and I needed a lot so honestly, all things considered I don't even know how they could've made any money on me. 4. MANNERS - Having been on multiple consultations where I paid upwards of $250, Dr. Hilinski was the only doctor who didn't make me feel rushed through my questions, took the time to address all my concerns, and has always been patient in being thorough with me. 5. ACCURACY - Unlike my previous doctors, Dr. Hilinski gave me photo-shopped depictions of what to expect. More than a year later when I compare the depictions with the after photos, they look identical. He gave me exactly the nose he depicted. 6. EDUCATION - I never knew how important aftercare over the first 2 years of recovery was because no one ever took the time to educate me. Dr. Hilinski educated me on it's importance, how to change my habits in handling my nose, etc. to ensure proper healing. In retrospect, I can't believe how poorly I mishandled my nose after the previous surgeries because I didn't know better. This time my nose healed much better and the scar even looks less noticeable because Dr. Hilinski recommended a great scar cream. 7. FOLLOW UP - Typically I only had 1-2 follow ups in the past. Dr. Hilinski is the only doctor who has continued to follow up with me over a year later, regularly tracking my healing progression and making tiny non-invasive tweaks here and there to further improve the subtle details. I loved my nose after the surgery but over the last year of follow up, it has continued to get better; we're not even done yet with the final tweaks and I'm looking forward to my next appointment as it keeps getting better every time I come in. 8.   I came to doctor Hilinski about 2 years ago. We consulted on my Rhinoplasty, however I didn't have the funds to afford it at that moment. A year later I was ready to proceed with the surgery, he brushed up on my file and knew my vision. He was honest with me and told me all the realities and what to expect of the process. He was great with scheduling and rescheduling my appointments as necessary and was very understanding. He did a phenomenal job on my nose and I honestly had never been after after I finally got off all the castings and everything on my nose. My confidence rose and one of my dreams finally came true.   In 2011 I broke my nose and was left with a severely deviated septum. After an unsuccessful surgery with another doctor, my nose was left incapable of breathing properly, and my bridge was significantly lower than it had been in the past. I knowingly had a very difficult nose to work on and I was hesitant to undergo another rhinoplasty.   It’s been almost three years since my ear reconstructive surgery with Dr. Hilinksi. I am still coming in every few months for progress ‘check-ups’ – to see how they are filling out and the tiny wrinkles are fading. Dr. Hilinksi is very thorough with his work! Nobody can believe I once had stretched earlobes- over one inch holes, even. My ears now are lovely, they’re very cute. Even immediately after healing from the surgery, they looked good. The follow up visits just show how thorough and dedicated Dr. Hilinksi is with his work, and how much he cares about his patients. There are not enough good things I can say about this place. The bedside manner is top notch, all the lovely ladies that work here are sweet and polite, they always welcome you with a smile. Dr. Hilinksi performs all procedures himself, he caters to his patients in that he makes 100% sure everything is done correctly by his own hand – and personally develops a relationship with his patients. It’s always a pleasant visit at the office. I had and still have many friends with stretched ears. Those who have had their earlobes closed have mentioned their ears did come out nearly as nice as mine did. I feel this is because they had only the procedure done - with no aftercare, post-surgery check ups. They developed scars that are visible and really weren’t clearly advised as how to best take care of their ears afterwards. I have had many people ask me where I went to have them fixed and I always recommend Dr. Hilinksi. I wouldn’t feel comfortable going anywhere else for any cosmetic procedure, to be honest. There’s just something really special about this place! If anyone is considering cosmetic surgery for any reason, this is the place to go.

  Surgery 11/19/14 Task: rebuild right nostril after basal cell cancer surgery left a notch, widening the nostril opening in an unsightly manner. Dr. Hilinski was one of 3 surgeons I interviewed. I selected him for the method he chose. Rather than just sewing it together, leaving a smaller and unbalanced visual effect, or just putting filler in, which the original dermatologist offered, he carefully evaluated me, shot photos, and proposed the 2-hour graft surgery using ear tissue. The other factors that led me to select Dr H were: stand-alone dedicated surgery right on premises with its own parking, competent associates (some of whose names begin with A and C!), and his educational background and website. On Nov 19, the anesthesiologist lightly anesthetized me, and my nose repaired in a 2 hour operation. The nose pain lasted only a few days, but the ear hurt much longer. At the one month mark, I could see that my nose had been restored to a normal shape. Other than a slight color difference, the surgery was done with such skill that no one even notices now, 4 months after the operation. The ear pain has begun to subside. I was very happy at every step of the process, and highly relieved that my normal appearance has been restored. He also has a radiant personality and gives the patient confidence that everything will turn out right, and it did.

  Dr. John Hillinski and his staff were very friendly and comforting, helping me with any questions or concerns that I had. The procedure took no longer than 15 minutes. Dr. John Hillinski understood what I wanted and got straight to it. He totally made me feel like there was nothing I had to worry about and that I was in good hands. What I wanted done was to camoflauge the appearance of a bump on my nose to give it a more smooth flowing look to it, and whats exactly what the outcome was. The first few days I did experience some swelling, but after the swelling and minor bruising was gone, the result was great! I didn't experience any major pain at all, only a little discomfort during the procedure but that was it. This was my 2nd time having this procedure done. My first experience was with a different doctor, but I wanted to go with Dr. Hillinski my 2nd time around because of the great reviews I have been reading.

  My experience with Dr. Hilinski was fantastic. From the moment we began discussing my procedure he instilled confidence by discussing the details of the surgery in an in depth and realistic manner. I appreciated his willingness to explain the technical details of the procedure such as the use of cartilage splints with Alloderm grafts. Many other doctors I spoke with seemed to dumb these things down which made me feel uneasy. I was definitely an anxious patient in the lead up to the surgery and Dr. Hilinski was very understanding of my barrage of questions. He made clear that it was important for me to both understand and feel comfortable with the surgery and the range of possible results. In the end he performed a surgery that was conservative while accomplishing my goals. My new nose fits my face so well that many people have been unaware that it changed. However, I have gotten a lot of complements on how great I look. What they say is true in that you cannot judge the results for quite a while. There was a period where I was really afraid that the dorsal hump had not been taken down enough. But now that I am 6 months out I can say that it absolutely was. Again Dr. Hilinski was fantastic in fielding my questions as my nose changed. Throughout the whole process he was personally available by email with almost immediate responses. I was truly happy and surprised by the level of customer service he provided. Additionally, he was much less expensive than other doctors in the area. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

  Dr. Hilinksi did chin lipo on me. I had never had any sort of cosmetic surgery, or any type of surgery, before seeing Dr. Hilinski and so was nervous when I arrived for my consultation. From the moment I walked into the office I felt at ease. The cozy waiting room and extremely friendly surgical nurses who met me made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Hilinksi was very good with explaining my procedure, answering all my questions and talking me through all my nerves. The Hilinkski staff was amazing from the start of my surgery and until my last post op appointment. I am very pleased with my results.   I usually don't write reviews, but I believe in matters like these where you will have to make a life time decision every one should share their experience. I saw doctor Hilinski a month ago for a revision rhinoplasty consultation, I had had my nose done eight years ago by a different doctor, and wasn't 100% satisfied with the results, I felt my nose was still wide. So I went to see Dr. Hilniski after I had done my research and was convinced that he's one of the best. I told him what I was really looking for, which is a thinner bridge and a smaller base, I also wanted to add more definition to the tip but he suggested not to do so and to leave the tip as it is and told me that it would look better after we bring the nostrils in and reshape the bones. After I left his office, he sent me a picture of how my nose would approximately look like after the surgery and I was sold because it looked very realistic and very close to the end results that I was looking for. I scheduled an appointment for the surgery, and I went there the day of the surgery really relaxed for some reason! As if I was going to get my hair cut or something. I trusted dr. Hilinski and his staff on my life. Every one the day of the surgery was nice and warm from the nurse to the anesthesiologist to the doctor himself. The surgery took about 3 hours and when I woke up I was nauseated, it wasn't the best feeling ever, the worst part lasted for like ten minutes and after that I felt a bit better. Went home that day and took my pills as suggested and cleaned my nose for the next few days. It's five days now and I just came back from his office after I had removed the cast and the bandages. I know it's very early to tell, but I think I will fall in love with my new nose, it's still very swollen, but keep in mind that this is my second rhinoplasty and I know that after the swollen subsides it'd look perfect. I will keep every one posted and come back here in ten days to let you know if I'm right or if got very disappointed.

  I picked Dr. Hilinski for my earlobe repair surgery because both Dr. Hilinski and his staff were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. I wanted to get rid of my stretched ears because I wanted to look more professional for my business and clients. I reviewed another surgeon ages ago and had an awful experience with another doctor who had awful bedside manners and was incredibly rude. When I met everyone here at Dr. Hilinski's office, I knew I was in the right place. Everyone is very nice and I never felt rushed during my consultations and appointments. To top it all off, everything with my surgery went very smoothly and the staff helped to keep me calm and relaxed. I was even given a pill to help because I was really nervous, and it calmed me right down. I even remember laughing during the minor procedure because I was so relaxed. My ears healed perfectly, they look wonderful, and you would never have known that I had stretched ears before!   After beating breast cancer, I felt that I appeared more tired on the outside than I felt on the inside. I wanted to firm my sagging jaw line, get rid of the creases above my mouth, and reduce the sagging eyelids that I found difficult to keep open most evenings.   I wanted a conservative approach to looking somewhat better--a necklift, a mid-face lift and lipo under my puffy eyes. I am amazed how well these procedures turned out. The effect is very natural looking--not one of those "Joker" smiles you see on so many people with facelifts. And the follow-through by his office has been amazing. I had this procedure done in late 12/12; I just had my last follow up visit this week (5/14).   Age and a rhinoplasty had elongated the distance between my nose and mouth, which prior to surgery measured about 17mm. I researched lip lifts for more than a year--this is only now becoming a popular surgery and many surgeons don't do it at all (or if they do, they don't do it well). I was really impressed with Dr. HIlinski's before and after photos; some of his patients had narrow noses with lips that extend a bit beyond the nasal base (like mine) and he was able to give them a natural (but noticeable) result without hiking the center part of the lips up, rendering the sides too "slopey." I live in New York City and actually flew out to San Diego and stayed there for a week because I thought Dr. Hilinski was the best surgeon for the job. Dr. Hilinski measured my face and decided to excise 5mm in the center and 6 going out toward the sides, at the longest point, leaving me with a distance of about 12mm. He only cuts skin, not muscle, and I've had no problems with movement or function of my mouth. After one day of pain I was fine. No bruising at all. My stitches were neat and tidy and my scar (after an initial bit of redness) is nearly invisible. It's been six months since my surgery and I am thrilled with the outcome--there's a marked difference without looking obvious or "done." The distance is shorter and I have increased vermillion show, which enhances the cupid's bow. Overall, my mouth and face looks more youthful. Dr. Hilinski is truly an artist, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone (or to go back for future work myself!)

  One of the most important things to me when I first consulted with Dr. Hilinski is that he's board certified both as an ENT & as a plastic surgeon. This added level of training was important for the surgery I needed, but as much as I needed the surgery, I was also rather hesitant to get it, as I've heard horror stories over the years about people who'd received bad results from doctor's around the country. I really made a point to do my homework on Dr. Hilinski, & he definitely checked out...from the double board certifications to Harvard Med School, he's the real deal & a phenomenal surgeon. Dr. Hilinski also has a very good "bedside manner" which is truly appreciated from a patient standpoint. Both prior to & after my surgery, I was able to directly e-mail him questions/concerns/etc., & got a quick & thorough response from him every single time. His office staff is efficient & easy to work with, & his medical staff (nurses, anesthesiologist, etc.) during the surgery were all absolutely great. Also, both Dr. Hilinski & his staff worked hard for me to get insurance approval to cover the surgery, including the doctor directly speaking with the insurance company & providing them with information necessary for approval. With all of that said, I'm now 2 1/2 years post op, & I am so unbelievably happy with the work he did. The results he'd predicted/estimated in the pre-op appointments were very accurate to the results I now have.   My son was in first grade when he had his otoplasty done by Dr. Hilinksi. I researched different doctors for about a year until I found Dr. Hilinksi, as he put my mind at ease in regard to the procedure itself, outcome, and recovery period. I was shocked with how quick my son healed and bounced back to his normal routine. The only thing my son complained about was the first bandaged they wrapped him in (it went around his head and under his chin for the first night). The next day they take off the bandage that goes under his chin. Other than that he had zero discomfort. All the worrying I did before surgery and right after surgery was so unnecessary.   After several years of hesitation, I finally made the leap to visit Dr. Hilinski's office for a consultation with respect to otoplasty (ear pinning/reshaping). The office staff was very accommodating to my schedule, and Dr. Hilinski was very professional. At the time of my first consult, I was undecided as to whether or not I should simply reshape just one ear, or perform work on both (one was in much "worse" shape than the other). There was no pressure to perform work on both if that was not what I wanted (both ears = more money), which I was very relieved about. We evaluated both options, and discussed the outlook and pros/cons of both. In fact, after a few weeks, I was still very undecided as to whether I should go for both, that I requested a second consult, which the office was very willing to assist with. At the time, I decided on just one ear, and scheduled my appointment. As the surgery neared, I was nervous about my decision to only work on the one ear, and about a week prior I decided to actually switch to performing work on both ears. The office staff and Dr. Hilinski were again very helpful and accommodating in finding a new time that fit my compressed schedule (both ears required more table time). The surgery was very painless, and the staff was very friendly and kept me engaged the entire time (local anesthesia). About three weeks out of the surgery is when the swelling finally mostly subsided and the ears "released" into a more natural state, as indicated in the primer, and I could not be more happy with the results. I feel incredibly more confident and infinitely less self-conscious. I would strongly recommend Dr. Hilinski and specifically the Otoplasty procedure to anyone with a similar situation. My only regret is that I wish I had gone sooner!

I almost lost all hope after many failed attempts in searching for a reputable board certified plastic surgeon to perform the difficult ear reduction surgery. Not many surgeons heard of this kind of operation let alone perform it. Then I found Dr. Hilinski. Finding him is like finding a pot of gold. Dr. Hilinski and his staff went above and beyond to make me feel so comfortable with their outstanding services and commitment to each and everyone of their patients. I knew with this type of procedure, a scar would be visible because an incision had to be made on the outside of the ears. I expected it. He literally took my ears apart, shrunk it, and placed it back on my head. After all the swelling went down, I could not believed how amazing my ears looked with no visible scar .   I had a mole removed from my top lip and a mole removed from my bottom lip. Dr. Hilinski was careful to make the incisions along the lines of my lips to hide any scars. I believe his price was very fair. I received a consultation, the surgery, two follow-up appointments, and I have a third follow-up appointment scheduled.   I was referred to Dr. Hilinski by another physician for septoplasty to correct a deviated septum. I was very happy with Dr. Hilinski's approach, the process, the staff, and the outcome of my procedure. I was particularly happy with his technique which involved internal, dissolving stitches and WITHOUT splints and packing. I did have the typical post op pain/discomfort, but easily managed that with pain meds. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work Monday (1/2 day). Although I don't personally know how it feels to have the splints and gauze packing, I understand it's really miserable for 3-4 days and painful when removed. I was so happy to by-pass all that. I would highly recommend Dr. Hilinski and the process he uses for septoplasty. Thanks!

  >> Five stars are not enough, if I could give a million, I would. I currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. You would think it is easy to find a reputable board certified plastic surgeon to give you exactly what you want, think again. I had macroctia (large ears) and I was so embarrassed of them all my life I never ever tied up my hair in public. I would have anxiety when people asked to see my earrings that I ended up taking them off completely. I needed an ear reduction and I knew this procedure would involved making an incision on the outside of the ears that could potentially leave a very large noticeable scar. I was so desperate at that point, I did not care. I expected it. I contacted every ear surgeons in my local area, some never heard of it and only one perform this kind of procedure. He was all talk when we corresponded through emails so I scheduled a consultation with him. I asked if he could reduced my ears to a normal height, he said no. I asked if he could reduced my conchal bowl, he said there's nothing he can do about it. Every question I asked was a let down. He went on to say my ears fit my appearance and when he looked at me, my ears were not the first thing he would notice. Then he started making comments about monkeys, how they have large ears and that they can hear better in the jungle. Really? I am not a monkey and I do not live in the jungle. What he was basically telling me was he is not that good of a surgeon and that if there is no difference after surgery, I should expect it because he told me so. I saw right through him. No thank you! >> >> I almost lost all hope.   Dr. Hilinski did nothing short of amazing to fix my nose after a pretty bad dog bite that ripped through one nostril and tore the other one open. I could not be happier with my nose. After the dog bite I naturally thought I would have a gross looking nose for the rest of my life. In a moment where I was vulnerable, Dr. Hilinski gave me back self-confidence. I'm so thankful that I came from Central California down to San Diego. The staff is very helpful and on multiple occasions post-operation I was seated early and out quickly. You will not meet a friendlier or more helpful doctor. I would recommend him to anyone. I think there are pictures on his website of my nose if anyone is curious.

  When searching for a doctor to alter your physical appearance it can be scary and VERY important to obtain a qualified doctor. Dr. Hilinski's education, experience and character is outstanding and rare! I searched and researched hundreds of doctors in the San Diego and La county areas and after each consultation I was more and more discouraged. Meeting with Dr. Hilinski was a breath of fresh air. He was extremely confident and friendly, two characteristics that do not usually go hand in hand in the medical world. When it came to researching for a highly skilled doctor I took full advantage of the many resources out there to help me find the best doctor and that is Dr. Hilinski. In my personal experience I experienced a great deal of scar tissue build up after I had my nose done, this was very depressing.   I had really bad deviated septum problem and my nose didn't look nice due to deviation. Dr. Hilinski fixed it in September 2011, and each day it looks better and better.   I received Botox treatment by Dr. Hilinski and will definitely go back for another treatment when it wears off. (So far, results have lasted two months.) The staff were friendly; and the cost of treatment was reasonable. Best of all, I had received treatment in the past by other doctors -- and I did not get the impression that Dr. Hilinski nor his staff were trying to "over-sell" their products. I especially appreciated that the results of the treatment were a fresh and naturally youthful look (as opposed to the frozen-faced look that I'm certain most of us want to avoid).   Dr. Hilinski specializes in Facial Plastic Surgery. Credentials are outstanding.I came to Dr. Hilinski to fix the poor repair after cancer removal on my nose. My internist recommended this surgeon to me,known for his artistic skill and concern. The Dr. was clear it would not be an easy repair, and might need to occur in stages. He did compassionate pt. education. His post-operative care was outstanding. As an RN, I was interested to hear the nurses in the OR rave about his skill and kind treatment. Thanks to Dr. Hilinski I knew what to expect with surgery, and felt confident in his hands. I now no longer feel disfigured and am beyond grateful. In 2010 my mother was diagnosed with the same cancer on her nose. We knew to see Dr. Hilinski after the cancer removal.You now would not even know that a scalpel ever touched my mother's nose.   I consulted with Dr. Hilinski after a previous general plastic surgeon operated on my nose. I presented with a severely blunted nasal tip along with abnormalities in my nasal bridge that was visible through the thin skin of my nose. Dr. H was able to build up my nose using ear cartilage and fascia. My rhinoplasty journey (as most rhinoplasty journeys) was long and fraught with ups and downs. However, whenever I felt down Dr. H was always there to remind me that he wasn't giving up so I shouldn't either. Although a doctor's skill is measured by medical knowledge and experience, there are other components to a doctor that elevates a good surgeon to a great one. Dr. H is hands down a great surgeon and a great person. He doesn't back down from a challenge and he doesn't give up. There are a lot of doctors out there with good credentials but there needs to be more with compassion. Dr. H has it all.

  I went to Dr. Hilinski because I could not breath through the left side of my nose after it was operated on and made worse by an ear nose and throat doctor who was trying to fix my deviated septum. Dr. Hilinski performed surgery and my nose was better but still not functioning perfectly. Dr. Hilinki discussed what could realistically be done to improve the outcome. I agreed to a second surgery and my nose now looks and works better than it has in years. I am very happy with my results and I sleep better because I can breath better. My results were so good that my husband who also had a deviated septum (from a hockey stick to the face when he was young) decided to have surgery with Dr. Hilinski. My husband also breathes better now that the surgery was done.   I absolutely love Dr. Hilinski. He did my rhinoplasty about 3 years ago, and it turned out perfectly, very natural and not too noticeable. He was able to show me on the computer beforehand what my nose would look like. More recently I had blepharoplasty on my droopy/uneven eyelids, and that too turned out great. It was a relatively simple and inexpensive procedure with amazing results. I am so happy with my face and feel I do look younger than my age. Dr. Hilinski is very informative, caring, a perfectionist. Very thorough in follow-up, wants the results to be perfect. He goes for a natural look which I appreciate. Overall a great guy, excellent surgeon and I might even call him an artist! Nowadays I go in for injectable fillers and get my Latisse through him. He does such a great job. Also his office is comfortable and not too stuffy, and I like the staff too.

  I visited tons of doctors' websites before choosing my doctor... When I came in for a consultation, I was immediately impressed with him. He actually listened to what I wanted (a subtle change that would make me feel less self conscious about the size of my nose, but not so dramatic that my friends/family would notice.) It's been three months since the operation, and I'm really happy with the results! Plus, none of my friends even noticed! They just said things like, "you look great" or "you keep looking younger and younger" or "your eyes look really nice"...
