One of the most common concerns that my patients express during one-on-one consultations is regional volume loss throughout the face. While in the past patients were more focused on a single line or crease, more and more patients are now seeking to restore lost volume across an entire region, such as the cheek mound. The injectables Sculptra® Aesthetic and Bellafill® are highly beneficial for improving both concerns due to their history of successful results. Although I still treat individual lines and creases here and there, I find myself restoring regional volume loss with these products far more often.
Depending upon the individual patient’s goals, Sculptra® Aesthetic may be a better choice than hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. With Sculptra® Aesthetic, I can restore lost facial volume in a much broader manner, almost like painting with a wider brush. As an added benefit, Sculptra® results can last for upwards of two years – nearly twice as long as many of the HA fillers.
Bellafill®, on the other hand, has one major advantage over all other dermal fillers: it is the only long-lasting filler on the market. For an experienced patient who has acquired “filler fatigue” and is tired of making maintenance appointments every year, Bellafill® can be a great option to consider for facial contouring.
