San Diego Facial Plastic Surgeon on Achieving Facial Harmony with Implants

Dr. John Hilinski discusses the potential that facial implants have on enhancing various areas of the face while improving the overall balance of features.

San Diego, CA – Dr. John Hilinski, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in San Diego, performs a wide range of plastic surgery procedures to improve the overall facial aesthetic. He highlights one option in particular that has become more popular over the years: facial implants. By augmenting specific areas of the face, Dr. Hilinski explains that patients can achieve a more balanced facial appearance.

When a patient comes to Dr. Hilinski with the desire for a more distinguished facial feature, he often recommends the use of implants. He notes that there are three major areas facial implants can enhance: the cheeks, chin, and jaw. Cheek implants are used to add volume to the midfacial region to improve a flat or sunken appearance. Chin and jaw augmentation, Dr. Hilinski explains, can address the concern of a weak structure in the respective areas.

In some cases, Dr. Hilinski may recommend combining chin implants with rhinoplasty for further enhancement. He says that these two areas in particular can complement each other well. On specific patients, such as those with a weak chin and prominent nose, Dr. Hilinski explains that altering both the nose and chin can result in a more balanced facial appearance than if only one was addressed.

Dr. Hilinski recommends anyone interested in achieving more defined facial features in such areas as the cheeks, chin, or jaw to seek a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn if facial implants are the best option for them.
